Pioppino Mushroom – Agrocybe Aegerita
The Piopino Mushroom, or agrocybe aegerita, is part of a diverse family of mushrooms, known as the Black Poplar, Velvet Pioppino, and in Italian is known as “fungus on a stick”. This thick stemmed meaty mushroom maintains a healthy bite after cooking, has subtle earthy nutty flavors, and is both a challenge and a pleasure to cultivate.
This mushroom like most we grow loves sawdust as a growing medium. It is a fantastic source of B vitamins, antioxidants and even is more nutritious pound per pound than a chamignon mushroom.
